3D ultrasound is a single detailed image of your baby’s face. 4D ultrasound is that same beautiful 3D image of your baby, but it is over a period of time and looks like a movie clip. HD ultrasound is a newer technology that gives a far more detailed look that standard 3D ultrasound, and shows you a very realistic look of your child’s face while still in the womb and is available in single images or like the 4D ultrasound movie clip but with the HD ultrasound details.

That depends on what you are looking to see. Many mothers like coming in twice, early on, 15-26 weeks, when they can see the baby and then again at 25-34 weeks to see a more detailed face. Between 28 and 32 weeks, your baby develops more fat and gets a more defined face. After 34 weeks, it becomes more and more difficult to obtain good pictures since the baby is running out of room. However, all babies are different and we have been successful in obtaining great images all the way up to 39 weeks.

Above are examples of good fluids around baby and little fluids around baby. Drink plenty of water for several days before and the day of your appointment to ensure your amniotic fluid is clear.  

We recommend drinking 6 x 16.9oz bottles of water DAILY for the 4 days leading up to your session! It makes all the difference whether you’re coming in for gender determination, or 4D/HD imaging! 

 About a half hour before your 3D/4D ultrasound scan, try to drink cold water or a fruit juice so that your baby will be awake during your session (unless you are told not to by your physician).

We understand babies and pregnancies are each unique in their own way.  Sometimes the baby faces towards the mother's back, the fluid isn't very clear or there are hands and/or feet in front of the baby's face, just to name a few.  If your baby does not cooperate during your session we will bring you back again once at no additional cost to you.  Rescans vary from 5-15 minutes and are done within 7-14 days of original appointment.
